What is Disk Space? How much Do I need

If you are going to launch a new website, you should know what disk space is and how much you typically need.

What is Disk Space?

The disk space is the hosting company’s amount of space allocated in the webserver where you can store your website’s files. The files include images, videos, databases, backups, etc.

It is an essential factor as many hosting companies try to play with minds by giving unlimited disk space, but that is just not a thing that should make you curious. A typical website uses up to 1 Gb of space.

How much disk space typically required?

It is a general question of how much disk space will be enough for my website. According to research, an average website uses a maximum of 20-40% of the actual available disk space.

It means that you don’t need unlimited disk space to publish or run your website efficiently. It entirely depends on the content that you will be uploading on the website.

If it is a simple website, then 5Gb of space is usually enough, but if your website includes many videos or any downloadable software, you can opt for 50Gb of space or more.

Benefits of Online Disk Space

You can use any plugin for it, or you can also do it manually from compress.jpg or ny another website.

2. Get rid of unused media

Always clean out the unused media or junk from the backend, as it can also slow down your website and take up unnecessary disk space.

3. Delete Old backups

You should delete your old backups after a certain period as they take up extra space and lower the space for your website’s content.

4. Delete Unused Plugins and Themes

If there are any plugins and themes that you do not use, consider deleting them as they take extra space and are no use to you, and can also cause the website to slow down a bit.

5. Clean Spam Comments and Trash

The things present in your spam folder and trash folder, even in your email accounts, take disk space. You should always delete them from time to time to avoid any issues.
